About

Hello and welcome! My name is Heather Olds and I am a State of Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker (Lic.# I.1800864). I am also certified through Postpartum Support International as a Perinatal Mental Health provider (PMH-C). I focus solely on women’s mental health, primarily PMADs (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders). But I also help women who are struggling with the transition to becoming pregnant and to motherhood in general, as well as grief & loss as they relate to pregnancy/infertility/parenthood/etc., and the back-to-work adjustment.

I’m all about transparency, so I’ll go first! I am a Postpartum Depression (PPD) and Postpartum Anxiety (PPA) survivor. I know full well the debilitating effect of these disorders and how they can leave you feeling hopeless, isolated, paralyzed, ashamed, and just not like yourself. If you are currently experiencing these issues, I want you to know that you will not always feel this way, you are not alone, and that I’m here to help.

I have two little girls that keep me extremely busy, and a husband that keeps me grounded. I am an extrovert that loves to relate to others with warmth and acceptance. I love to nurture and grow things, like flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and butterflies in our habitat (in sessions you may find me making way too many analogies between humans and plants or the life cycle of a butterfly). In fact, if I’m not outside doing something each day, I will become quite cranky. My dream job is a social working farmer- which actually, I think is what I’m doing now, so I’m declaring it a thing.

My goal is to help women feel well so that they can fully enjoy all aspects of life. Fully enjoying their baby, children, their partner, friends and family members. But also to improve and enjoy the relationship that they have with themselves. This will look different for each and every person and I rely heavily on you (the client) to tell me what this is going to look like for you. You and I will operate as a team, and I can’t wait to meet you!

Education and Experience:

During my social work career I have focused on trauma work with adolescents and adult women, many of whom were also experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. I have almost a decade of experience working with the Veteran population at various stages of life, experiencing a variety of needs. By far my favorite jobs were working in the hospital and county health department settings with pregnant and postpartum women and adolescents- this is where I found my passion.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 2005 from The Ohio State University. I furthered my education at Boise State University and earned a Master of Social Work degree in 2009. I have a current Perinatal Mental Health certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.

So enough about me, let’s talk about you.
